Duncan & Prudence are dedicated to making beautiful clothes that set the finest standard of quality and have foremost in our mind the comfort of each customer. We hope to reach New Zealanders worldwide and offer them our fashion products.
With sustainability as one of our main focuses, we hope to engage customers in the discourses that surround the construction and consumption of fashion, and enable them to create their own vintage with our "T-shirt builder" and custom fit. They will ultimately consume less clothing over their lifetime due to the long lasting quality and timelessness of our range.
Our production headquarters and store are in Newtown, Wellington, New Zealand and Duncan & Prudence is committed to upholding and enriching this local community's unique identity, spreading its sentiment worldwide in search of Newtowners everywhere.
Some of the efforts we've made toward becoming a sustainable business include reducing ink waste and using water-based screen-print inks, building business relationships with local distributors and manufacturers to reduce shipping carbon emissions, keeping our marketing strategy to email and online newsletter and using recycled products for all our business stationery: recycling our silk screens and cultivating rarity with expirations of screen-print options: operating all manufacturing, sampling, design and retail out of the one location to reduce shipping carbon emissions: investing in turning our Newtown premises into a sustainable building: motivating our staff in energy conservation, community initiative and customer service.
We are proud that we expose our customers to the labour processes involved in their garment's construction. This is a unique transparency in our business, which might deglamourise fashion for customers, and motivate their consideration of the concealed political inequalities underpinning the garment industry elsewhere around the world.
We are a company of all rounders; everybody that works at d&p does everything! From cutting and sewing to customer service and design. This breeds a strong confidence in our product! We know our product because we made it, right here! The person serving you probably made the garment. All of our team have been or are going through Massey fashion school. We are part of the New Zealand fashion industry and we endeavour to push it forward and keep it alive!
